n the IMSG, Mr. Luu Vinh, Managing Partner of Asia Legal, an accredited mediator of Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (“VICMC”), is the one of honourable trainers coaching two teams from the Faculty of Law of Foreign Trade University and Law Faculty of Vietnam National University for participating in IMSG.
International Mediation Singapore (“IMSG”) is a moot competition that focuses on meditation skills for mediators and mediation advocacy skills for advocate representing for parties. Students participating in IMSG will play both the role of mediator and barristers in a moot on a hypothetical case. IMSG is organized by Singapore International Mediation Institute (“SIMI”), with the participation of nearly 40 teams from many countries around the world, each team consists of 3-4 members, competing with each other’s, through 5 rounds based on the legal cases set up by the Organizing Committee.
2019 is the first year the competition has been held to commemorate the signing of The United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (also known as “the Singapore Convention on Mediation”). This Convention was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 2018 and the signing ceremony took place in Singapore on August 7, 2019. This is a unified and effective legal framework to implement mediation, in order to promote the development of mediation as an alternative means of resolution for international commercial disputes.

Mediation is known as one of the methods of dispute settlement agreed upon by the parties and supported by the mediators, the commercial mediation has shown outstanding advantages such as procedure flexibility and the intimacy, the participation of the parties in the mediation process, parties-centred method, maintaining relationships, creating standards, confidentiality.
