At the end of August 2022, Asia Legal’s Managing Partner, Mr. Vinh Luu (Richard) participated in the 60th International Young Lawyers Congress in Singapore of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) and it was an honor to be the only lawyer in Vietnam participating in this Congress. This was a big annual event of AIJA with the participation of nearly 500 lawyers from law firms around the world.
The theme of this Congress was: “The future of the legal profession: Reunite and embrace the change” for 06 days from 22 -27 August with sessions throughout, outdoor sports activities, sightseeing, travel and a gala dinner party. This was a great opportunity for lawyers to meet, exchange and share their experiences and skills in professional work and life, contributing to the development of the legal service and creating new collaboration opportunities for business.
This Congress included 02 tracks: The future of the legal profession and Doing Business in Asia with a total of 15 sessions. At the 13h session: Asia as avant-garde: New distribution forms – The rise of social media as a sales channel, Mr. Richard also presented the topic: “Regulations on E-commerce in Vietnam’. In this session, Ms. Elena Kadelburger (Underwood Solicitor LLP, United Kingdom); Mr. David Roche (Aramis Law, France); Mr. Daniel Choo (Singapore); Ms. Loren Leung (Bird & Bird LPP, Singapore) và Ms. Kineta Kelsall (Jellyfish, United Kingdom) also joined.

AIJA is the only global association devoted to lawyers and in-house counsel aged 45 and under. Since 1962 AIJA provides outstanding international opportunities for young lawyers to network, learn and develop.
AIJA currently has 4,000 members and supporters in 90 different countries, including over 60 collective members and Bar Associations. The AIJA community is very diverse, as members come from law firms of all sizes and cultures.
The activities of AIJA are coordinated by 20 scientific commissions, in charge of organising our events all around the globe and keeping members up to the date in their respective areas of practice.
AIJA is committed to defend and take active part in promoting core legal principles, such as the rule of law and human rights principles. While respecting the integrity of each civilized society of the world, a particular aim of AIJA is to advance cross-cultural understanding between members and other participants in the legal profession as a whole.
